When traveling, exhange rates are typically more favorable at your destination than your origin, though it is often helpful to exchange at least some money before you leave. For the best exchange rate you typically want to exchange money at a bank during normal hours of operation or use your debit card at an ATM, which is called a Bankomat in Austria. If your ATM card uses a 6 digit pin code, you will need to to ask your bank for a new 4 digit code in order for it to work in Austria. You might also want to check your daily withdrawl limit and keep in mind the effect of the exchange rate.
