In Vienna there are plenty of Internet "cafés", some of which offer services such as faxing, scanning, printing, telephones, etc. You can find an occassional non-smoking Internet café, too. The idea of "cafés" in this sense is a computer center for Internet and related services.
Buy a "starter kit" from one of several providers. From the kit, place the sim card into the USB stick and plug the stick into an available USB port on your computer. When you use up your data limit, purchase a "ladebon" or "aufladen" code to recharge. Providers include:
Rental properties will usually provide Internet. You should specifically ask for a hard wire connection if you want one and you should ask if there is a limit to your data usage. If you need to get your own Internet, a main area provider is UPC.
