Most stores will charge you for bags. Buy a couple good bags and get into the habit of taking them with you.
To use a shopping cart, you typically will need a 1 Euro coin or a token to release your cart from the others. You will get the coin / token back when you return the cart. You can purchase a token to keep on your keychain so that you don't always have to keep a coin handy.
Fruit and vegetable quantities are more seasonally dependent than in some other countries and therefore out-of-season produce can be expensive.
For produce that is priced by weight, you typically need to label the produce with a price tag yourself. On the produce sign there will be a number. Place your bag of produce upon a scale and enter this number. A label will print out for you to stick on the bag.
